Countdown to the 2009 DTV Transition

On February 18, 2009, all full-power over-the air broadcast television stations are required to stop broadcasting in analog format and only broadcast in digital format on this date.

The analog airwaves are being freed up for public safety and for auction by the federal government for advanced wireless services. Broadcasting over digital provides better sound and picture quality and better opportunity for advanced services.
